The zebras are herbivorous Perissodactyl Mammals, belonging, like the horse, to the family of the Equids. Distributed in the eastern and southern regions of Africa, the zebras differ markedly from the other members of the family due to the vertical striae, black or reddish-brown, alternated with pale bands, white or yellowish, on the forequarters, which often tend to the horizontal on the hindquarters of the animal.
